Running Series sponsored by Downwind Sports, and takes place during the autumn season that transforms the U.P.
from a dense green forest into a hundred shades of reds, oranges and yellows.

Trail series events include the Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run
Chassell, June 7th, Keweenaw Trail Festival 10K, July 10 McClain State
Park, John Hansen Memorial August 21, Rapid River. The trail incorporates striking vistas from high points along the lake like,
"Top of the World" and "Razorback Ridge". Runners will be
treated to stunning views of the dark blue expanse of Lake Superior to the East
while in every other direction they're surrounded by colorfully clad camel back
humps of the Huron Mountain Range. The run starts along the shoreline of Lake
Superior at Little Presque Isle and ends back along the shoreline at Wetmore's
Landing. In between runners will bypass lakes and streams while on rugged single
track trails and hard pack dirt roadways. Patagonia Lightweight Capilene shirts will be awarded to
the first 250 registrants. Unique age group and merchandise awards for overall place
winners.

Race Start: Half Marathon at 10:00 a.m., 10:05 5k Saturday Oct. 1, 2005. Early start at 9:30 a.m. for runners expected to take longer than 2 hours and 30 minutes. Yourth will start at 12:30 p.m. Age Divisions: Half Marathon Male and Female 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 plus. 5k - Male & Female under 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-40, 50-59, 60+ 1k Youth Run - 7 & Under and 8-12, participation awards for all! |
Awards: Many Door Prizes. Special thank you to Norway Springs Water, Third Street Bagel, Super One Foods and Econo Foods for their donations. Half Marathon: Overall top three males & females will receive merchandise awards, six pairs of trail running shoes donated by Montvail and Vasque, to be given away in random drawing. 5k: Merchandise to first place male and Blue Ribbon Salsa given to age group winners. Note: The elementary or middle School with the most participants in the 5k and youth run will receive a special award. |
