Child Health Insurance at a Price You Can Afford |
MIChild is a health insurance program. It is for uninsured children of Michigan's working families. MIChild services are provided by many HMOs and other health care plans throughout Michigan.
Who is Covered?
MIChild covers children of families who are at or below 200% of the poverty line who are
not eligible for Medicaid* and for whom health insurance is not available from an
employer. For example, for a family of four this would be an income of as much as
$3,459 per month. MIChild specifically targets the children of Michigan's working
families who are not eligible for Medicaid, and do not otherwise have access to health
care coverage. Click here for the income
guidelines.
* Note: Children ages 1-19, up to 150% of poverty, are now eligible for Medicaid.
What is Covered?
Well child visits, immunizations, hearing
screening, vision services, dental services, diagnostic services, primary care and
specialty physician services, inpatient and outpatient hospital services, emergency
services, mental health services, and prescriptions.
Who Will Provide Services?
Most services will be provided through
capitated medical and dental plans that agree to accept the rate offered by the State.
How Much Does it Cost?
The cost will be $10 per family per month, for
a total of $120 per year.
