Type II
Water Supplies
Type II supplies are those which have not
less than 15 service connections or which serve not less than 25 individuals on an average
daily basis not less than 60 days out of the year. The Environmental Health (EH)
Division contracts with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to enforce the
Type II water supply program. This contract requires a sanitary survey be conducted
every five years on Type II, non-community supplies, and that sampling parameters and
frequencies are defined for each supply. A survey determines if well construction,
location, and distribution system comply with Michigan's Safe Drinking Water Act, Act 399,
P.A. 1976. There are currently 56 Type II, non-community supplies in Marquette
County.
