Campgrounds and Temporary Campgrounds:
The Marquette County Health Department conducts annual inspections for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on all permanent campgrounds located within Marquette County to ensure compliance with State law in the upkeep and maintenance of these facilities. We are also charged with investigating complaints with regard to these facilities and institute enforcement action where necessary. For our current fees, please see our fee schedule.
Temporary campground facilities are also required to be inspected and licensed prior to the temporary facility being opened to the public. All local and state fees for temporary campground facilities are payable at the time of application.
Tattoo Parlors:
The Marquette County Tattoo Ordinance requires the annual inspection and licensing of all tattoo parlors in Marquette County. Prior to opening a tattoo parlor, plans must be submitted to the Division of Environmental Health for review and approval. A plan review fee must be paid at the time plans are submitted. All tattoo parlors are inspected on an annual basis and a tattoo parlor license/inspection fee paid. Our current fee schedule lists our fees for these services.
We also investigate any and all complaints related to the operation and maintenance of tattoo parlors.
Public Swimming Pools and Spas:
The Marquette County Health Department, under contract with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, is charged with conducting annual inspections on all licensed public swimming pools and spas. Our current fee schedule lists our fees for these services.
As a courtesy to pool and spa owners and operators, we also conduct quarterly sampling for bacteriological analysis at no cost to the facility owners. We investigate complaints with regard to these facilities and institute enforcement action where necessary.
Plans and specifications for new facilities are submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for approval.
Rabies Control:
All animal bites which occur in Marquette County must be reported to the Division of Environmental Health. A written report must be filed on the Animal Bite Report Form. Please refer to Rabies Awareness for more specific information and what you can do to protect you, your family and your pets from rabies.
Radon Gas:The Division of Environmental Health will no longer be conducting radon testing in people’s homes. Radon test kits are available from the Division of Environmental Health. Please see our current fee schedule for the cost of these kits.

DHS Home Inspections:
The Division of Environmental Health conducts inspections of area homes and day care facilities for the Department of Human Services. Please refer to our current fee schedule for inspection and laboratory fees associated with these inspections.
Home Loan Evaluations:
Lending institutions may from time to time require homeowners to have a Home Loan Evaluation conducted on their home by the local health department. The Division of Environmental Health will conduct these inspections for a fee. Please refer to our current fee schedule for inspection and laboratory fees associated with these inspections.
