Meeting Minutes

I. Welcome and Introductions - Jim welcomed everyone and introductions were made.
II. Approval of Minutes - Minutes were approved.
III. Set Agenda - Agenda was set.
IV. Speaker: Larry Ziomkowski
Larry, Merrilee, George, and Jim had a brainstorming session to identify the Coalition’s goals and objectives for 2007 dovetailing the structure of the goals and objectives and activities with the national reporting form that the Health Department reports back to the federal grant and COMET reporting system.
The Coalition members present at the meeting took post-it notes with their agency’s activities listed that corresponded with each objective listed on the sheets on the wall. These will be compiled and reviewed along with a revised reporting document at a future Coalition meeting.
V. Program Sharing/Announcements
, is working with Larry Boburka and the Westwood Action Troupe, who will be doing a presentation on the "0-0-1-3" initiative.Paul Olson, GLCYD
There will be a U.P. Teen Leadership Intensive/ACTion Troupe training at the Negaunee High School on March 9-11. Call Dee Lindenberger at 226-5122.
There will be an Impact Learning Plus: Brain-Smart Teaching on April 30-May 1 at MARESA.
Lenny Shible, NMU Health Promotions, with the help of the TCF Bank, the NMU Health Promotion Office printed 10,000 "Designated Driver" cards that have the phone numbers of a limo service and two cab services. They will be offered to each Marquette city and township area liquor license holder and to around 24 on campus locations. Let him know if you need any cards. Call Lenny at 227-1455.
Contact Liz Smith at Project WEAVE, with youth information for the Youth Yellow Pages.
George Sedlacek, MCHD, said there’s free snowshoing on Sundays from 1-4 at the Nohquamenon Trail in Forestville.
VI. Old Business:
A. Town Hall Meeting/April/Aclcohol Awareness Month - The Town Hall meeting last Spring was a success. We will have another Town Hall meeting in April and have Charter tape it. April 3rd from 5:30-7:00 was suggested.
B. Alcohol Beverage Server Training - Sue Girard-Jackson and Lenny Shible will facilitate the FACE Responsible Beverage Sales training on March 29 at 2:30 at the Comfort Suites in Marquette. .
VI. New Business
A. Parenting Awareness Month - Jim suggested picking a few activities to focus on for Parenting Awareness month in March. E-mail a list of your activities to Jim.
