James Alderson, Chairperson Current Term: 01/01/2007 - 12/31/2009 Mr. Alderson is retired from the United States Air Force and Northern Michigan University, where he was a Political Science instructor. He has served on the Board of Health since 01/01/1998. |
Dale Moilanen, MPH, FACHE, Vice Chairperson Current Term: 01/01/2006 - 12/31/2008 Dale Moilanen currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of Marquette, P.C. He is a certified healthcare executive and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dale also serves on the board of the Medical Care Access Coalition and is an elected member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives. Witn over 25 years of healthcare administration experience, he has held positions of leadership at the clinic, hospital, corporate regional, and corporate headquarters levels. Dale is also a retired United states Air Force Medical Service Corps officer. This is his first appointment to the Board of Health. |
Robert J. Kulisheck, Ph.D. Current Term: 01/01/2008 - 12/31/2010 Dr. Robert J. Kulisheck, Professor of Political Science and Public Administration, retired from Northern Michigan University after 38 years. In addition to his service to the University community Bob has experience as
an elected and appointed public official. He served as a Marquette city commissioner, mayor pro tem and mayor and currently chairs the City's Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee. Bob's volunteer work has focused on providing housing for the homeless and disabled residents in the Marquette community. He is president of the Board of Directors of the Propylon Nonprofit Housing Corporation. Bob was a co-founder and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Jansen House. Finally, Bob is a member of the board of directors for the Marquette Noon Kiwanis Club and chairs that organization's "Youth Priority # 1 Committee". This is his first appointment to the Board of Health.

Karol Lautner Peterson Current Term: 01/01/2005 - 12/31/2007 Karol Peterson manages rentals she and her husband own. She has served on many boards and commissions: Marquette Township Planning Commission, the Marquette Township Zoning Board of Appeals and the Marquette County Planning Commission, among others. She is currently President of The John Lautner Foundation based out of Los Angeles, CA. She has served on the Board of Health for over fifteen years, since 1/1/1993. |

Harvey Wallace, Ph.D. Current Term: 01/01/2008 - 12/31/2008 Dr. Wallace is a professor and the Department Head for the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department at Northern Michigan University. He has served as the Board of Commissioners Liaison since 1999 and was a Board of Health member from 01/01/1988 - 12/31/1998. He has also served as President for the National Association of Local Boards of Health (2001) and the Michigan Association of Local Public Health (2003). |
Arthur Saari, M.D. Current Term: 01/01/2007 - 12/31/2009 Dr. Saari is a physician in Marquette who has a busy private practice and is also on staff at Marquette General Hospital. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. He has served on the Board of Health since 1986 and his special concerns as a Board Member include, people taking more responsibility for their health and family well-being, balancing government and personal property rights, and environmental protection. |
Karlyn Rapport Current Term: 01/01/2006 - 12/31/2008 Currently retired, Ms. Rapport was previously employed as a Speech and Language Pathologist. Karlyn Rapport and her colleague Sara McClellan started the Communication Rehabilitation Department at Marquette General Hospital. She has served on the Board of Health from 1976-1980, 1982-1996, and 2001 to the present. Karlyn Rapport was a Marquette County Commissioner from 1995-2001. She was a founding board member of the Medical Care Access Coalition ( MCAC), the Marquette County Spouse Abuse Shelter, now Harbor House; Propylon, and the Marquette - Alger Alzheimer’s Association. She has served as chair of MCAC, The Women’s Center, AAUW, and Planned Parenthood of Marquette and Alger Counties. Karlyn Rapport has been recognized for community service, most recently receiving the Evergreen Award in 2007. |
