The Great American Smokeout! |

The Great American Smokeout is an upbeat, good-natured effort sponsored by The American Cancer Society to encourage people who smoke or chew to give up tobacco for 24 hours. More than 434,000 people die annually in the United States, and more than 145 locally, from diseases caused by tobacco, including secondhand smoke. The good news is that these deaths are 100% preventable. Studies have also shown that smokers who quit begin to reverse the effects caused by using tobacco within 24 hours of quitting! The risk of heart attacks, which kills the most users, is cut in half. Stopping will also benefit the health of your family. Secondhand smoke pollutes the air with poisons that cause asthma attacks, cancer, heart disease, and bronchitis. Visit the American Cancer Society to find out more! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
